3 things in my life now & fun “coincidences.” 1.) I’m attempting to get a job at Starbucks here in Costa Rica (prayers & happy thoughts always appreciated), and here at the store furthest away, I 2.) got to meet an actor from the Costa Rican show #DeleViaje here. They’re doing a new reality show across central america. Check it out called #SubitealChunche and3.) I’m listening and practicing songs for next week’s Alicia Keys concert. That I am only doing by coincidence meeting the band. Life is good, busy, and wonderful. #everythinghappensforareason #starbucks #theresnosuchthingascoincidence

She walked onto the bus and at first all I saw was a beautiful pink and yellow butterfly. At closer glance, I could see that she was, in fact, a girl.  She was Little Miss Butterfly for me, Señorita Mariposita.

I have been writing a children’s book series called this very thing about a Costa Rican butterfly (girl) who explores life and lives in Costa Rica.  This beautiful little butterfly girl on the bus helped inspire me again to keep working on those books and make them a reality.

To keep the dream alive!

For a moment or two, I was beginning to wonder, am I really supposed to be here? To be living in Costa Rica?

Yet, this simple bus ride to Monteverde (my favorite place here by far) & the random encounter with Señorita Mariposita in real life was truly re-solidifying for my answer to that question.

The answer is: yes.

Yes, I am supposed to be here. Sin duda alguna - without a doubt.

A couple hours later on the bus, I looked back and she had a seat with her family.  I didn’t see her wings and antenna anymore though.  I asked, “Donde están las alitas de la mariposa?” She hesitantly looked at her dad who answered in Spanish with, “we put them away.”

I looked my sweet new friend in the eyes and said, “but you’re still a butterfly right?”

She didn’t say anything, but, her eyes and face lit up with a smile as if to agree and say, “yes.” “sí.”

"Yo tambien." "Me too" I replied.

Her name is Cécily & she is my Señorita Mariposita.  I will be working on the books and writing for girls like her who are inspired to dream and be who they are because of butterflies and because of someone who cares.  Care & believe in your dreams!

Sweet Dreams ~ Duerme Con Los Angelitos

I’ve been here already for one week and yet it still all feels like a dream. It’s a dream becoming reality so it’s hard to believe. Also, I’m not into whatever “normal life” will be yet, so I am sort of wandering a bit, but that’s okay. Remember that not all those who wander are lost. I certainly am not lost. I just don’t know yet where I am going. And still there is a difference between those two for sure.
Each day I think, I better do such & such a thing before I leave. But then I realize and remember that I’m not leaving. At least for a while & that’s hard to imagine. But hopefully sometime soon I’ll find my sense of normal. :)

So these dreams are sweet dreams.  Dreams I dream while awake and I try and walk in them the best that I can.  In Spanish, instead of “sweet dreams” to wish someone well as they sleep, they say, “Duerme con los angelitos” which means, “sleep with the little angels.” I love that because it’s how I want to pursue my dreams too. With angels watching over me and with God guiding my steps.

Sweet dreams everyone!

Que duermen con los angelitos!
